Sound a bit daunting? Learning Shiatsu has such a massive practical component. There is a strong emphasis on self care and learning to choose comfort and ease rather than pushing. Doing the practitioner training as a form of self development is also an option. Classes are fun and structured so that it's easy to learn.

To complete a diploma in Shiatsu and be recognized by SPAA (Shiatsu Practitioners Association Aoteroa, the professional body for Shiatsu Practitioners in NZ, there are a several requirements:
600 hours of supervised workshops and student clinics. 1000 hours of private practice and case studies. Also includes anatomy and physiology to health practitioner level based on requirements by the NHPNZ (Natural Health Practitioners Association).

All to be completed within a three year period. Can be completed within two years or less depending on ability or diploma level qualifications in another natural health bodywork modality.

10 weekend workshops per year (February-November) held in Auckland on first weekend of the month.
(Feb 8-9; Mar 7-8; Apr 4-5; May 2-3; Jun 6-7; Jul 4-5; Aug 1-2; Sep 5-6; Oct 3-4; Nov 7-8).

Tuition fee: $500 per weekend workshop or can be paid in weekly installments.
